Beautiful reflection. 🌹. I’ve been aware of the possibility of red martyrdom in our time for a while. I’ve collected much hate writing about faith in a secular newspaper. 🗞️ It is real. But so is God’s abundant mercy and love. ❤️
I bet! On the one hand, I think “yes, let’s witness unapologetically!” On the other, I think about Rolheiser’s chapter on the Incarnation and how, when our loved ones who stray from church are still in contact with us, they are still in contact with the Body of Christ. This trend of intentionally severing ties with people we disagree with is so troubling because when that is the case, they are making themselves their own little hell on earth but cutting themselves off from our (and ultimately His) love. It’s hard to allow them the freedom to do that. But if God respects that freedom to let people walk away, how can we not?

There will be many saints rising up in our time for persevering through these great challenges. I firmly believe this.
